Sasol(Johannesburg)said today that its major Lake Charles,Louisiana,petrochemicals project is facing more delays and cost escalation. The company says that costs have risen above the previously estimated $11.13 billion to $11.6–11.8 billion and that commissioning of the complex will be delayed by five months. The latest estimated cost range includes a contingency and weather provision of $200 million.”During the last quarter of 2018,several factors within and beyond our control impacted the completion schedule and associated cost for the remaining units,resulting in the overall project capital cost estimate being revised,”Sasol said in a regulatory filing.
