Interim Budget 2019-20: Direct income support to farmers; fertiliser sector remains neglected

Production of foodgrains touched a record high of 285-mt in 2017-18 and is estimated to remain at the same level during the current year. The production of horticultural crops crossed a record level of 312-mt in 2017-18 and expected to reach 315-mt in the current year, according to First Advance Estimate of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. Production of oilseeds and other cash crops also witnessed significant increase during the period.
