BP licenses PTA technology to SOCAR for large plant in Turkey

BP and SOCAR Turkey Enerjia (Istanbul), an affiliate of the State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan, have entered into a licensing agreement for BP's latest-generation purified terephthalic acid (PTA) technology. SOCAR Turkey intends to deploy the technology in a new 900,000-metric tons/year unit at Aliaga, Turkey, that is expected onstream by 2023 once a final investment decision is taken.
