OCI (Amsterdam, Netherlands), a producer of methanol and nitrogen fertilizers, said on 4 March that it had received takeover interest in its methanol assets. The company has not yet decided how to proceed with respect to the approach but says it will give more information at the appropriate time. OCI did not identify the interested party or confirm an earlier Bloomberg report that SABIC had offered $4 billion for the assets. Responding to a CW inquiry, SABIC said it does not comment on market speculation or rumors.
