A Sm2Sn2O7 solid with the pyrochlore structure has been synthesized by the hydrothermal method, accelerated under microwave irradiation. The structural and textural characteristics of the pyrochlore obtained by this method, cleaner, faster and cheaper than the conventional one, have been compared to those of another sample with the same formula, but obtained by the conventional solid state ceramic method.
