摘要

The Custer National Forest sprawls across more than a million acres of southern Montana and parts of North Dakota. It is home to thousands of plant and animal species, many historical landmarks and heritage sites, and has been a national forest for more than a century. Its breathtaking mountains and forests nurture an incredible diversity of life; as a component of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, the Custer is part of the most biologically diverse ecosystem in the northern temperate zone. Yet despite its beauty, its history, and its importance to countless forms of life, the Custer is struggling.
