A BRIEF TECHNICAL HISTORY OF BROCK-SPOULETTE

This technical history of Brock-spoulette is an abridged version of that which appears in my book,but it nevertheless covers all the salient features and some of the history.The Brock-spoulette(or delay fuses)allow one to achieve accurate and reliable small delays down to about 100 milliseconds in various fireworks.Achieving a uniform and re-peatable small delay by craft means is a challenge in making fireworks,and small delays are essential for multiple timed effects,like Southby's"Brum"shell,which creates a sound aptly like its name;or a"Hammer"shell to create an accurately toggled dual effect more-or-less rapidly;or a"Tower"shell for producing a closely spaced succession of willows,etc.
