THE first two components of American Fruit Grower's CROP initiative are "Commit to Quality" and "Research Strategies to Cut Costs." They each share one thing in common — they start right in the orchard, and are the goal of every fruit grower who plants a new variety or block in the orchard. When you're discussing strategies for improving production, there is perhaps no better place to start than with the development of dwarf trees and high-density orchards.
