This manual states in its preface that it is meant to "emphasize the clinical fundamentals involved in the safe administration of anesthesia, periopera-tive care, and pain management." It has been "designed to be an easily accessible and accurate source of information." Now in its 7th edition, this volume has been considered by many to be a timely and useful reference for anesthesia residents. However, as the authors acknowledge, its audience has grown to include a much broader scope of readers, ranging from medical students to attending anesthesiologists.
