Advances in sheep anaesthesia within our facility

Improvement of anaesthetic techniques is essential for refinement of studies and for the welfare of the animals within our facility.The length of anaesthesia carried out on our sheep can vary from 1 hour up to 5 hours dependent on the type of procedure carried out. In the past the parameters we checked whilst the sheep were anaesthetised were minimal. However, during the past 2 yearswe have researched and examined different techniques for anaesthetising sheep and monitoring the parameters whilst they are anaesthetised.
