U.S. FASTENER Export/Import UPDATE

Fasteners are a strong export in the United States. So far in 2013, January through July, exports of fasteners are up 6.3 percent compared to the same time period last year. U.S. exporters have sent more than $2 billion worth of fasteners around the globe this year. Mexico and Canada receive the most fasteners from the United States, both importing more than $600 million worth in 2013. Fasteners sent to Mexico are up more than 10 percent from 2012, but exports to Canada have decreased almost 3 percent. The countries of France and Brazil have significantly increased the amount of fasteners they receive from the United States. Both have increased more than 22 percent from 2012, which is more than a $10 million increase, January through July.
