Robust Regulators for the Excitation of Large Synchronous Generators

The construction of robust regulators for excitation systems of a synchronous generator operating on a power system is considered. The regulators are synthesized using the H{sub}∞ theory and the MATLAB software package. Each robust regulator has a dynamic section with a simple structure and constant parameters. The dynamic section can be synthesized using only one of the variables measured that can be controlled to damp out the electromechanical transients.
