The results are discussed of analysis and experiment concerning periodical fluctuations of rotational speed in gen sets, in particular, that of the marine alternator 6DGSOM operating in parallel. The author offers a calculation method of and a way to reduce periodical speed variation in gen sets. The latter goal is achieved by fitting a pendulum damper on the crankshaft front end, so tuned as to reject the torque harmonic that primarily contributes In speed oscillation for the engine model in question. As far as 6DG50M Is concerned, this refers to the 3-rd order harmonic.
