High-speed electroslag welding of plate metal without normalizing of welded joints

The application of the developed technological process in manufacture of the structures of 40... 150 mm thick low-alloyed steels makes it possible to perform welded joints, meeting the requirements in as-welded condition. In this it is characterized by high efficiency (welding speed is 3... 8 m/h), lower specific heat input (decreased by a factor of 3... 6) in reduction of electric power consumption by a factor of 3... 4 in comparison with usual modes for electroslag welding of mentioned thicknesses. Given technology can be used in ship- and reactor-building, boiler and converter construction, water development works, cement machinery construction, cryogenic technique.
