摘要

The effect of thermal cutting on changes occurring in metal of the cut edge is considered. Requirements to machining the cut edge should include correction of external defects and deviation of the cut from the required geometry, rather thanelimination of zones that were subjected to metallurgical transformations. Metallurgical changes occurring in the cut edge as a result of the heat effect of the cutting jet have no influence on composition of weld metal and are completely removed duringsubsequent welding process. The presence of micropores in the cut edges can lead to porosity of the welds. To prevent such porosity, it is necessary to employ the appropriate welding technologies which provide an intensive stirring of the weld pool andgood degassing conditions.
