Volumetric segmentation of lung lobes on multi-slice CT images

The purpose of this presentation is to evaluate the proposed segmentation technique of lung lobes on multi-slice CT images. The lung lobe is segmented by application with the surface-curvatures analysis and the morphological filters, 3D distance transformation. To test the performance of this scheme, we used thoracic CT data measured by the multi-slice CT scanner. The first step of this study is to develop an automatic extraction algorithm of the fissures. These results indicate that the proposed algorithm provides the ability accurately to develop an automatic extraction algorithm of the fissures on multi-slice CT images.
