Preventing fires due to supplemental oxygen.

Saha et al. reported a fire during eyelid surgery, attributed to pooled oxygen from a nasal catheter [1]. Diluting that oxygen by promoting air movement across the face would diminish the risk of administering oxygen to sedated patients in this situation. We would like to suggest a simple device to lessen the fire risk of supplemental oxygen in facial surgery.
