The Efficiency of Inner Freezers Application in Grey Iron Cast Parts

The influence of low-carbon steel and grey iron inner freezers on structure and hardness of grey iron cast parts has been studied. It has been found that grain size fined by low-carbon steel inner freezers around their own surfaces. The intensity of transformation is depended of freezer and cast part size ratio. Grey iron inner freezers improve the structure and properties not only around themselves but also so far from their surfaces. The grey iron inner freezers are more effective than low-carbon steel ones by 6-8 percent.
