摘要

A new type of magnetic amplifying MO system (MAMMOS) named as Zero-Field MAMMOS was developed. Unlike the standard MAMMOS, its domain expansion scheme does not require the use of any external magnetic field. Although the MO signal enhancement ratio of the Zero-Field MAMMOS is small compared with that of the standard MAMMOS, it is possible to realize twice the higher density of DVD with a wide system margin, even under the same optical conditions as for DVD (650 nm laser and NA 0.60 objective lens). It was also confirmed that bit error rate for 4.5 times larger density recording was still lower than 1e10~(-4).
