Tohoku Regional Construction Bureau of Ministry of Construction has been researching the systems for sensing and predicting road surface conditions in winter season. The bureau has announced RFP (Request for Proposal) for the system. We applied for the system development project and participated in the one-month field experiment with our brand-new test systems. This system can perform sensing and predicting road surface conditions at remote site, and also this system has a function of information processing by Web. The results of sensing and predicting can be obtained by e-mails automatically. We also installed a Web camera of remote handling type for real-time monitoring of road surface conditions at this time, and then the results were successful. We are going to improve the systems for more precise sensing and predicting.
