The IP-based VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) satellite communications equipment has been developed as the next-generation version for the prefectural disaster prevention VSAT system that was introduced in 1990 in Japan. The new development incorporates variable high-speed data communication functions compatible with IP. The new VSAT system can flexibly be configured by combining 1.8m to 2.4m antennas with 4W and 15W SSPA type ODUs (outdoor units) to ensure data communications at variable transmission rates of 32kbps to 2Mbps.
