摘要

Since BSE was found in Japan, Japanese food safety organizations in the government were dramatically reorganized. In July, 2003, Food Safety Basic Law was enacted and Food Safety Commission was established in the Cabinet Office. Food safety policy based on risk analysis started at that time. Therefore, Food Safety Commission has a role of a risk assessor. Ministry of Agricultute, Fish and Forestry (MAFF) has a role of a risk manager as well as Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. All three governmental bodies have to carry out a risk communication among stakeholders. MAFF reconstructed the organization and established new Bureau, Food Safety and Consumer affairs Bureau. To achieve the food safety goals, MAFF showed new guideline for food safety. This paper introduces the recent outline of the policy of MAFF.
