Study on the accepted traffic system for persons with mobile difficulties: study of the night visibility of wheel chairs and white canes used pedestrians

In order to examine the night visibility of reflective tape attached to wheel chairs and white canes used by pedestrians, visibility tests have been carried out with a driving speed of 40 km/h. The results are as follows. Reflective tape is a useful safety item to improve night visibility. Reflective tape visibility of the foot position (3 cm in height) was the same as that of the back (130 cm) in this test. It is an effective visibility improvement measure to wear both more highly reflective clothing and reflective tape at the same time.
