A complex rating evaluation of the production efficiency of agricultural enterprises.

In Russian agriculture, operating results are traditionally broken down into individual production sectors and segments, with enterprises that have performed particularly well (or badly) with regard to total outputs, crop yields or productivity of animals being identified. However these indicators do not give a real indication of the quality of labour of workers in agricultural enterprises. It is argued, therefore, that the economic efficiency of the utilization of production resources, or the production costs associated with achieving a particular volume of output, should also be taken into account. A complex rating system was developed, which takes into account factors such as total production costs per hectare of agricultural land, energy provision, energy supply of labour, density of livestock, and level of labour provision. To illustrate the use of this system, the operating results of six agricultural enterprises in the Batyrevskii raion of Russia's Chuvashskaya Republic were analysed and assessed. Results are discussed. It is argued that in order to gain an accurate picture of the quality of work of an enterprise's labour collective and the economic efficiency of production, the following indicators should be considered: value of gross output (in comparable prices); value of profit per hectare of agricultural land; output per annual worker or per man hour worked; yields of cereal and leguminous crops; output of feed units per hectare sown in feed crops; volume of output of animal products per 100 hectares of agricultural land; and profitability of produce in the enterprise's main operating sector.
