The results of water stress influence on the lipid composition of two wheat varieties (Triticum aestivum L.) -- drought-tolerant (Albatros odesky) and drought sensitive (Bilocerkivska 47) are presented. The water deficit induced the lipid composition shifts both in resistant and sensitive wheat varieties. The content of sulpholipid (SL) and phosphatidylglycerol (PG) increased in both varieties. The monogalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG) content decreased in both varieties too (more drastic in sensitive plants). The phosphatidylcholine (PC) and sterol content increased only in drought-tolerant plants and decreased in sensitive variety. Water deficit induced changes in the lipid composition and can affect processes connected with plant adaptation to extreme environmental factors.The efficiency of adaptive properties formation depends of stress factor action and the plant resistance level.
