摘要

Ken Iverson, the long-time chairman and chief executive officer of Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor Corp. and the man who took "mini" out of the mini-mill, worked for the steelmaker and its predecessor, Nuclear Corp. of America, for 36 years until his retirement at the end of 1998. Iverson, who died in April 2002, effectively founded Nucor, taking the humble steel joist fabricator to the ranks of the world's top steelmakers. Along the way, Nucor pioneered the use of thin-slab casting to expand its reach beyond long products to become a leading producer of flat-rolled steel.
