Oil country tubular goods (OCTG) prices continued their upward march in September, largely defying concerns that have plagued other non-energy steel-consuming sectors, according to market sources and published reports. But market sources noted that tags for commodity-grade material, such as J55 production casing, remain challenged by an abundance of supply both from domestic mills and overseas suppliers. On the higher end of the value spectrum, alloy-grade material-in particular, seamless OCTG-continued to benefit from strong demand, not only from shale plays but also from gradually increasing activity offshore, market sources said.
