The zinc mating season for 2012 contracts has been "unusually good," with most deals for next year in their final stages, one trader told AMM. Contract premiums for high-grade zinc are around 7 to 8 cents per pound, he said, in line with spot premiums at the end of this year. Premiums for contracts signed for 2011 were about 5.5 cents per pound, a second trader said. Spot premiums started the year at 4.5 cents before surging in the second quarter, AMM data shows.
