Weak dollar lures Turks to US ferrous scrap mart

U.S. ferrous scrap exporters have found new life in the offshore market thanks to stronger demand from Turkey and a cheaper dollar vs. the euro. Turkish mills booked three cargoes from U.S. East Coast shippers a week ago and have come back to the U.S. docks to buy another five cargoes in the past week, industry sources said. Prices have registered little or no change, averaging $450 per tonne delivered to Turkish ports for shredded material and about $5 per ton less for the 80/20 mix of No. 1 and No. 2 heavy melt.
