Elected officials in Alabama have offered Bermco Aluminum an incentive package that could save the secondary aluminum producer up to $3 million on its $10-million expansion plan for its scrap purchasing and processing operations, the company's top executive said. The Birmingham-based smelter in November had entered into a contract to buy a 100,000-square-foot facility on a 20-acre site in Lincoln, Ala. (AMM, Nov. 23).
