Aluminum deox prices slid slightly for July contracts as demand from steel mills was flat to slightly lower and discounting returned to the market. Deox producers said most business was done between 1.13 dollars and 1,135 dollars per pound, down from a June base of 1.14 dollars per pound. While softer deox prices reflect the marginal drop in aluminum scrap prices in June, producers expressed frustration at the wide spreads between aluminum deox and secondary aluminum alloys like A380.1.
