An evaluation of audio coding using reference psycho acoustic model

There have been over decades after the combination psycho acoustic model and time-frequency re-mapping became basic technique for the audio compression. Use of psychoacoustics improved performance but also introduced difficulties in use of simple objective measures. Recent development of ITU-R for objective measurement tools brought several useful object measurement toots. But it is questionable if it is ideal tool to improve performance of audio compression algorithm itself. This report will propose evaluation of audio coding using prepared noise-inject ion by reference psycho acoustic model. This method cannot give any measure of overall sound quality, but can measure precise performance of entropy coding. This also allows measurement of relative improvement by partial change of algorithms. We will describe evaluation of MPEG/Audio as example. Audio Coding. Evaluation, Psycho acoustics
