摘要

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is recognized as an effective approach of language intervention for people with difficulties in acquisition or use of functional speech, which utilizes a variety of communicative options to augment or supplement speech and/or writing. In recent years, AAC has developed as an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary field of clinical and research effort which provides individuals with severe communication disabilities with comprehensive support and services in terms of medical, welfare, and/or educational concerns. This lecture gives an overview of AAC and presents some recent topics from AAC practices and related research outcome.
