Natural language analysis of finger movements description sentences in sign language dictionary and development of its electronic version which enables search with pieces of movements

We analyzed finger movements in sign language by analyzing finger movement description sentences in sign language dictionary. By using IBUKI system which is our natural language analysis system, we analyzed those sentences morphologically and then syntactically. We could transform them in a kind of standard form with 6 or 11 parameters. On the bases of this standard form, we could define singleton of movement by which a whole movement can be constructed with their time sequential combination, simultaneous combination or modifying combination. Next we define a similarity distance between movements. With these we built an electronic sign language dictionary which enables a search with pieces of movements and can shows similar sign words in view point of movements.
