Century to buy Zalco's anode facility

Century Aluminum Co. has agreed to purchase the anode production assets of Zeeland Aluminum Co. (Zal-co) for 10 million euro (12.5 million dollars) in cash through wholly owned subsidiary Century Anodes BV. The Monterey, Calif.-based aluminum producer plans to spend around 45 million dollars to modernize the curtailed anode facility, located in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, and aims to restart anode production in the third quarter of 2013.
