Supercritical water/hydro-thermal reaction technologies for organic waste treatment

摘要

Water at high temperature and under high pressure is generally mixed with other materials well and quickly, and its viscosity is low and the fluidity is high. Recently, it is paid attention to that organic materials are dissolved in and decomposed by water which works as catalyst for organic chemical reactions. Supercritical water oxidization technologies are mainly applied for making polluted materials such as Dioxins and PCB harmless, treating useless chemical arms safely and so on. Hydro-thermal (Sub critical water) reactions technologies have been developed in Japan as thc application of countermeasures for industrial and municipal wastes treatment, because of the lack of landfill space, and environmental problems as Dioxins due to incineration. This paper introduces the mechanism of Supercritical water/Hydro-thermal (Sub critical water) reactions and IHI's garbage treatment technologies.
