Aperam tubing mill in Uruguay is eyeing uptick

Aperam South America's steel tube facility in Montevideo, Uruguay, hasn't yet returned to pre-recession levels, but a positive forecast for 2012 suggests improvement might be ahead for the sector, a company executive said. The tube mill, with an annual production capacity of about 40,000 tonnes, was operating at near-capacity in 2008 at an annual run rate of some 35,000 tonnes, according to Aperam Uruguay commercial manager Heber Forti.
