Choosing the optimum weights and speeds of tractor-machine units taking the soil compacting effect into account

A theoretical analysis is made of the operation of tractors with machines or implements, in order to ensure minimum energy expenditure and soil compaction. Formulae are derived for calculating the optimum speeds which will give minimum specific energy expenditure and minimum specific impulse. These relationships are also displayed graphically, thus making it possible to determine the optimum weight and working speed of the tractor.
