My time: Why after 30 years, the hawkwatch and the dawn are still favorites

The gate was closed and locked. No surprise. I parked my car in the small lot near the lighthouse — the lot that served the state park back in 1976. The big one between the visitor center and hawkwatch platform wasn't built until... Well, you know, I can't really remember when they laid down all that blacktop. Sometime in the early '80s, I guess. That's the problem with memories and mounting years: Everything at the bottom of the pile gets jumbled, then compressed.
