The history of orthodontics

I have been reading the series of interesting articles by Dr Norman Wahl, "Orthodontics in 3 millennia." This is a brilliant review of the history of orthodontics, the development of appliances and cephalometry, and advances from 18th century onward. No topic has been left untouched. The language is nice, simple, and touchy. The interest develops from the very first line of the article. The comments on the pioneers of orthodontics, such as Oppen-heim, Todd, Weinberger, and Hellman (Chapter 4) are beyond appreciation. I believe that most orthodontists of modern times were not aware of the struggles and contributions of these doyens until this series highlighted them.
