The Coalition for Networked Information uploads optimism in Orlando. The term manifest destiny speaks to the mood of some 350 attendees at the fall meeting of the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI), held Nov. 29-30, 1994, in Orlando, Fla. Madeup of librarians and computer specialists in roughly equal parts, CNI lacked the wist-ful-to-despairing question that seems to pervade librarians' meetings: Why isn't the whole world applauding the wonderful things we're doing? CNI attendees were optimistic, comfortable, even ebullient in the knowledge that the whole world is watching them.
