Assessment of mechanical properties of argillaceous rocks of the South-Caspian basin based on subsurface data

摘要

When solving various problems of geology and well drilling data on physical-mechanical properties of rocks within the geological sections are required. Most deep fields of the South-Caspian basin are concentrated on Baku archipelago. Rocks here are subject to high pore and formation pressures, while wells are drilled using muds with high specific weight. Such difficult geological conditions require improved drilling methods and optimum drilling bits depending on mechanical rock properties.
