ON DISCOVERY OF DIAMONDS IN THE MSTA RIVER MIDDLE STREAM (NOVGORODSKY REGION)

At present the époques of kimberlite magmatism in the East-European platform are considered to be known. Kimberlites are definitely revealed to be connected there with the Middle Devonian stage of the platform activization. In this éoque kimberlites of Belomorsko-Kuloiskoye plateau and the Middle Timan ridge, pipe-shaped alkaline-ultramafic bodies of Arkhangelskaya region and complex of kimberlite and alkaline-ultramafic rocks at Tersky coast of the Beloye (《White》) sea have intruded (Smirnov, 1992; Golubeva e.a., 1994; Lukianova e.a., 1997; Bogatikov e.a., 2000; Kazak e.a., 2000). The new aureole of diamonds and associating minerals have been distinduished in the Central Devonian field (D_3fm). There have been found, in a 20 liter volume sample, one crystal, as large as 2 mm, of octahedron habit and 4 fragments with the same degree of wholeness.
