Cattle performance database becoming a big asset

A CAREFULLY constructed database cataloguing feedlot and chiller performance of all Wagyu cattle fed at Aronui is rapidly becoming a priceless management and decision-making tool for major Wagyu beef producer, the Australian Agricultural Company (AA Co). About 7000 cattle have been recorded. Information is broken down according to owner, breed composition, sire line and a host of other variables. Marbling is not the only performance criteria: the data also looks at days on feed, average daily gain and cost of gain to provide a broader economic picture.
