Momentum grows for direct-fed microbials

AFTER a period on the fringes of mainstream lotfeeding practice, support for the use of direct-fed microbial feed additives is gaining momentum. The product which dominates the market segment -Beef Culture, produced by Nutrition Physiology Corporation (NPC) in the US - is now included in rations fed in 14 commercial Australian feedlots feeding a total of about 135,000 head. That equates to close to 20% of the nation's current 743,000 head of cattle on feed.
