Upstream activity in Cuba has been gathering pace after Repsol and its partners, Norway's Statoil and India's ONGC Videsh, began drilling the country's frst deepwater exploration well in February 2012. The Jacquey well was drilled in 1,680m of water – with a projected total depth of 6,100m – using Saipem's Scarabeo-9 ultra-deepwater (UDW) semi-submersible rig.
