THE cost of feed represents the single largest expense item in any feedlot after the purchase of feeder cattle - where applicable. Therefore being able to reduce the cost of feed remains a critical aspect of feedlot management. Reduced profit marginshas resulted in many feedlots looking at the inclusion of alternative feedstuffs or byproducts in their rations to reduce ration price, overall feeding costs, and/or cost of gain.
