THE effect of the global recession on the Australian beef industry is likely to be offset by a considerably lower Australian dollar and improved seasonal conditions during 2009, according to a major industry forecast released in Sydney recently. Meatand Livestock Australia's 2009 Red Meat Projections report suggested that beef and veal shipments this calendar year are likely to increase three percent, to just less than one million tonnes shipped weight.
