Feed stuffs: to test or not to test?

ALL CLASSES of livestock are most productive when fed a ration balanced according to their nutritional requirements. Critical components of feedlot feedstuff management encompass in-house or out-sourced laboratory assessments of feedstuffs, conductedat critical points along the feed manufacturing process. These include; (a) feedlot incoming commodity testing (every load), (b) feedlot moisture and test weights on milled grain, (c) feedlot daily commodity and ration oven dry matters, (d) laboratory commodity or manufactured feedstuff nutrient analyses, and (e) laboratory residue testing.
