Operative production planning and control as a precondition for supply chain management. The requirements for an implemented supply chain management (SCM) affect all planning levels and the systems operating at these levels. The properties of a production planning and control system for ensuring a consistent SCM for manufacturing processes, especially in the steel industry, are illustrated by means of the example of oPPS system developed by PSI-BT AG in the 1990s.
